WHY????????????????????
I've just watched the Panthers and Storm battle it out in a classic, and at the hooter, it was 18-18. That's how (in my opinion) it should've remained, but.................
Oh no, we had to carry on until Harry Grant notched a four-pointer, so.............
I ask again WHY??????????????????
When a definitive result is required, like in play-offs, and cup-ties, then GP is required, I've no argument there at all, but..................
In league games when the scores are level at eighty minutes, that's how it should stay!
A draw, is a draw, is it not?
Comments please!

Of course it’s a draw - another gimmick that will be despatched to the stupid bin soon
I agree it should be a draw if the scores are level after 80 minutes.
But for those who didn’t see it, it was a good try by Grant to win the match, with everyone thinking he was going to get the ball from the play the ball and pass it to his teammate 20 yards out, to drop a goal, instead he did a quick dummy , turned quickly and rushed through a big gap to score.

Totally agree mate. A piece of quality football, but.........
He should've been taking a shower at that time! 🤣

@7-vikingnomad It's the rules and has been the rule for 23 years so what makes you think they will change it ?. The best rule since sliced bread, it means there will be a winner on the day which is what sport is all about. People who want draws should watch the round ball game.

So it's been in (the NRL) for over twenty years, does that make it right? And..............
It's a lot more recent here, and we managed forever without it, but...............
Answer me this with a yes or no reply please. Hypothetical I 101% understand, but........
If GP existed below SL level, and tomorrow evening with the clock ticking down, you're 18-12 astray over at POR. Then there's a superb break from the Chemics, which ends with an eighty metre touchdown in the corner. As the con is being lined up, the hooter goes, but the ball sails straight over the black dot, and it's 18-18.
But the game wouldn't be over, and then from the first set of six, Fev bang over a one-pointer to send the locals home bouncing, and you mob would get nowt. So.....
And (yes or no please I would remind you) would you feel cheated?
I repeat, unless a definitive result is required, if the scores are level when the the final whistle blows, the comp points should be shared!

Spot on there spelly, we have only had this farce since 2019, not 23 years
and the crazy thing is if nobody scores in the extra period, guess what - it’s a draw ! Same as the round ball game which the convict mentioned
also if I recall there was a proposal for at full time both teams got a point but if one won in the extra convict time they got another point !
@7-vikingnomad The thread is about Aussie teams.
In sport the aim is to win full stop no stupid draws both teams no the rules along with us fans if my team gets beat in added time then so be it that's the game I personally along with many others love it long may it stay.
Its just another daft idea (gimmick) that the game can do without.
Just like finishing top of the league and not being considered Champions.
Try telling that to somebody who doesn't follow rugby league!!
A draw can be achieved in other sports, so why not in RL?
How daft can it get?!!!
It is a manufactured concept to make the game appear 'exciting' when invariably these days it isn't.
Spelly is correct; it used to be exciting to see your team fight back and claim a share of the spoils right at the death. To have it then snatched away from you just because the modern audience demands drama and human misery is a complete nonsense and should be saved for those awful TV reality shows!!!
As I keep saying, the game needs to have an honest, good look at itself, and stop pretending that it is something that it is not.

Agree there - in normal time and you are drawing you would push to the middle of the pitch and drop a goal - Alex Murphy was the king of that when he was at Leigh
no need for the extra convicts gimmicks
You won’t be very happy watching the Aussie rugby this morning! Another golden point, but after failed drop goal attempts a brilliant try to win it.

Missed it this morning mate, but just seen the re-run.
Quality football? Without question! But......
Should the scenario have even arisen? Nooooooooooooo way! They should've been in (what they call) the sheds!
