There was actually a heavy 10 minute shower in the first half . But the pitch was better than a lot of the ones I’ve seen in Cumbria.
I thought Bibby was our MOM and Fozzard played well again .
Don’t know whether Mc Whirter got injured, but he only played about 15 /20 minutes and didn’t come back on. Thought we should have given Lawton a rest instead of playing him for the full match.

Conditions today weren't the best, that said somehow we missed out on any rain, which on the way up seemed highly unlikely. Worky had a dig, but we were never in danger of losing. We will get better when we actually play 'Summer Rugby'. Fleming and Ince went well as a unit, Gilly played on the right, where Lyons had been playing, and was just easing himself back in. Connell was tidy, JA was JA. It's never ideal having to play after a 3hr+ coach journey. As has been said, "A win is a win"

Take the Leeds game out of the season and it’s been an underwhelming start. Second best against London and struggled to beat North Wales and Workington, who were in League 1 last season.

Connell, Abdull, Gilmore, Johnstone & Fozard is as good a spine you’re going to get in the Championship. We’ve got to be creating & scoring more than we do at present.

Positive today is that they didn’t break us down. Scored off two kicks (one of theirs and one of ours).

It is an away win in Cumbria but I still feel the team is slightly unbalanced. Mc Whirter has to start at 13 or 12 & play most if not all the game. I think Jack's time is coming to a close after many years of sterling service to the club. When fit Sambou has to play for his speed. Their 80 yard break away try by Galea showed up our lack of pace.

Workington lost a half back early on for the rest of the game too that must have helped us. I listened to radio Cumbria's commentary for the second half as the Merseyside signal was poor. They chose Connell as our man of the match saying he tidied everything up at the back. Whereas in the first half Merseyside criticised him at least twice for picking the wrong pass on attack which blew 2 chances.

Anyway a wins a win but we need to sharpen up our attack & not kick at the end of every single possession & put the ball through hands more.

We will need to improve vastly for Oldham away.

Well done to those that braved the journey, and it will be interesting to hear their views, as for long periods on the radio it was a bit quiet and hard to tell what was going on. We had a new loose forward and half back arrangement for sure, but even so we weren't inventive enough. As last week we were impatient again, I could understand that against Leeds but we should have been in control today.

There are no easy games and winning whilst not playing at our best is something we would have loved not so long back, but I think AC will have to lift the guys for next week.

whilst its positive to win even when you don’t play well it’s not a recipe for a season of success long term.

i think there were a few bombed or missed chances, especially the Ince one over the line, which could have made the score line more convincing and then maybe we’re not talking about it this way.
