I know this trampling on old territory but what was the actual reason to why Backhouse didn’t buy the club. The three conflicting accounts are that he wanted to change the name to Liverpool or that he wanted to buy the stadium but council wouldn’t sanction or another one was that Rule wouldn’t provide him with any financial figures and was very uncooperative?
The reasons were never made public as he had to sign an NDA apparently
But the name change , relocation and stadium were all put to bed by him
From his cryptic tweets it seemed as if not only did SOC and co want a fee, they also wanted him to take over all the debts
LB pulled his interest before the crunchie really hit the fan and by the time the club was on its way out and needed rescuing had already moved on
There was also a lot of negative crunchie thrown his way by the SOC fan club who believed everything Rule told them
Apparently SOC and co were proper businessmen and LB just an attention seeking loudmouth who had never put a penny into the club

Presumably the NDA was with Widnes Sport Limited and therefore unenforceable since the insolvency?
