@jdgsport personally I would like to see all widnes games streamed on a pay per view system but that’s because I live in the states. I used to subscribe to widnes tv but haven’t renewed for a couple of years as I felt the service was lacking in all areas. £20 a game to stream is a fair price or £15 if you purchase games in block? Lots of ex pats across the world would be interested in watching widnes. It’s already filmed and already has commentary from flash etc so why not combine and monetize? Doesn’t have to be sky sports standard but needs commentary minimum imo

@pascal any of the games would be a good start. I don’t know if widnes film both home and away games currently. Flash knows a lot more of the goings on behind the scenes but he doesn’t think it’s financially viable. Our league app used to cover the games for a while but they haven’t bothered for some reason

The home teams all have to film the games, and also provide a live feed for the doctors due to the concussion protocols. Barrow have been using this feed as a live stream for fans as an experiment this season (with the view to monetising it).

The cost to broadcast a game on Our League has been around £1,300 in previous seasons, which obviously takes in to consideration their full production. You could probably do it a bit cheaper than that yourself, however you then open yourself up to the 'customer service' headaches of the subscription side if you have any problems with your live streams on the day (eg. people demanding refunds for connectivity issues, it cutting out etc).

Probably because there is no money in it, as nobody is going to pay for RL which is a 'kick up the arse away' from Open Age amateur.

To start it might take a few off the gate but once people start watching the game they become invested in the team, some fans who stopped going might return.

Hey would it matter if they just did away games because the main income for supporters is at home. But it also may get some armchair supporters to turn up obviously not yourself in America. 🤣👍

You have to have a balance when streaming, will it be to the detriment of people coming through the turnstiles? What's to stop Leggies/Bowler putting the stream on their big screen, less than 100yds from the ground, and thus creaming 50 or so, off the Gate?

@begg yes exactly, for widnes fans unable to get to the game, elderly, ex pats, the fans who can no longer get to the game in person. The people I have shown over here in the states actually like rugby league as a spectacle

@torn-sock-1 I’m not going to do anything, I was simply raising a topic so the forum members can discuss and give their opinions, I assume someone from the club reads this forum and it could generate some interest/momentum from the board. As flash says it’s ok for championship clubs to stream games. If Bradford/York and barrow can do it why can’t we? The games are always being filmed, flash and his colleague already do the commentary why not combine the two and charge £20. If 100 pay that’s £2000 per home game which would generate more revenue and possibly if more clubs started doing it that might lead to a tv deal

I am not sure how many people would be interested but possibly fans from Australia and America like yourself? I would not mind for £10 a stream because i live 200 miles away from Widnes on the South coast. Might be worth seeing if it generates money for Barrow/York and Bradford? Say £1000 earn per away game this will generate over £10000 a season it is not a bad idea.

@mckviking Nobody is interested in watching on tv or paying for a stream and certainly no broadcaster is interested in lower league rugby even the challenge cup games on bbc have gone to red button which only some RL know fans know about.
