Yes, even if he went in person to the bookies and wrote out the bet on paper it is still nobody's business what's on the slip.Probably sunk himself by talking  about it.

I’m not defending him, clearly a stupid thing to do. But your example would be no different from a member of the general public having a bet based on something he’s been told by a mate who happens to be a pro RL player.

Isn’t that illegal too though ? Wouldn’t the player giving information for financial gain be banned ? Genuine question.

Don't know. It would be unlikely to matter as the punter surely wouldn't name drop his mate and get him into hot water. In Horse Racing it happens all the time, jockeys/work riders selling information could incur a ban if caught out but just telling people things (opinions on how well a horse has been working etc) is accepted at least tacitly.

Having read his post on twitter definitely feel sorry for him. Looks like he had a couple of RL games in a multiple bet with other sports when he was an academy player. Total stake was 7 quid. Can’t help feel a warning rather than a ban would have sufficed.

Same MT, feel a bit sorry for him. Will only miss a few less games than Tony Clubb!

Always remember a mate telling me when he worked at that betting call centre over Sankey way. When gazza was at middlebourgh. Got a call at half time on a horse he wanted to put 40 grand on it 🤭

His 4 week ban finishes tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if he rejoins our squad to continue his season long loan,  or if he is loaned out to someone else after what happened with Robson.

In all fairness I don’t think the Robson issue is sinister. He’s out of contract at the end of the season at wire and maybe by going to Branford who are offering some players full time contracts, he thinks if he impresses he can secure a full time gig.

After the way our props played on Sunday, would he get back into the squad? Who would you drop for him?

Possibly leave out Dwyer and move Baker into the second row allowing Lawton to be used to do damage from the bench.

He may have to wait a week as he won't have been training with Widnes for 4 weeks, although I would still name him in the 21 man squad even if he doesn't make the 17.

We now know why he was recalled for 4 weeks, as he will have been able to train full time with Warrington while serving his suspension. Hopefully he comes back for the season as we need forwards of his standard. We are only 1 injury away from having 2 backs on the bench. Grady being a late inclusion last week ensured we could name 3 forwards on the bench and could rotate effectively which has been a contribution to dropping off in the 2nd half recently.

I was thinking this also.

With a few players returning in the recent week, particularly in the pack, do we really need him or Robson?

Maybe Robson going was a cost cutting decision on our behalf, as much as it was Wire recalling him?

The whole "full time training" would only have made sense if he joined a full time team, not 50/50 like Bradford.

I think we would certainly be better off with Doro than without him. We aren’t that many injuries short of having to field a very thin bench again.
