@jdgsport And his own players for next season, is it May when you can start talking to players from other teams?.

Kear certainly has contacts in Yorkshire, the home of big forwards! Plus he is in the World Cup upper echelons and will have player contacts there of course.

I wonder just how much cash Bradford will be able pull in under the new 'city' status? The club maybe hoping for an influx to be able to sign bigger than at present and are tooling up for next year?

Have to agree that even small snippets of interesting info really help to keep our fans involved and interested. Maybe a supporter who is a junior journalist could help. Not knowing just what the club staffing is doesn't help either, though I can see that keeping it down to essentials is probably necessary to maximise team funding.

There would certainly be criticism if they took on admin staff so you can't have it both ways!

Regarding backroom staff it sounds as if Beswick is happy here and maybe the club are happy with his efforts?

Think the positives out weigh the negatives with kear I do get people who say he may be a bit over the hill however he has had bradford and Batley competing in play off rugby more often than he didn’t in this league, which is far more than what we have managed to achieve also has a huge amount of contacts when it comes to recruitment and knows the division inside out as well as having a lot of top level experience, on the whole beggars can’t be choosers and much rather have him than a retired player with no coaching experience think he ticks a few boxes for us in terms of recruitment and player links as well as experience

Of equal interest in that report to me is that we are increasing the playing budget and are talking to SL players like Amor. That is significant as I presume they realise the importance of getting Top 5/6 next year.

As for Kear, finished 6th and 5th with Bradford, guess about par for the course, but got them promoted and also did well at Batley. Certainly got more of a track record in the Championship than most.

The ‘elephant in the room’ being that Bradford got rid of him. He does have decent qualifications for the job though and him joining wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

I have to say I’m a bit sceptical about there being a bigger (transfer) budget for next season. I’d like to know where the money is coming from before I get my hopes up too much.

Anyone spot John Kear at the stadium today?

If they think O'Brien is ready they may as well give him the job now rather than faff about in that case.

If he gets appointed then my season ticket for one goes in the bin.

I shall be off to the rubbish tip ,sifting through the rubbish

RoB surely isn't in contention now.

If it's John Kear, then yes he wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but I for one would be prepared to give him a chance. The need to have a reasonable 2nd half of the season far outweighs anything else for me now.

John Kear wouldn’t be my first choice. He’s 67 and has lots of coaching experience - but we need someone younger who can stay awhile and build up a decent squad.

That said, if he can improve the players we have, and so stop the falling attendances, we have nothing to lose.
In fact, if he comes we have everything to gain and he has his (reasonably high profile) reputation to lose if he can’t deliver.

Bradford have won 3 out of 4 since Kear was sacked. Kear's Bradford also lost to Simon Finnigan's Widnes twice. Maybe his appointment might appease a percentage of the fanbase.

That said, Kear would be better than no coach.

With Kear, I agree his recent record isn't one to be inspired by.

But RoB has lost 3 out of 4, Duffy had a mixed record at Fev/Leigh for the money spent, there is no outstanding choice or choice with a lack of risk available to us.

However, someone with a bit of presence and nous to add some structure and reshape the squad surely can't be beyond availability.

If we are going for Kear we may as well bring Cullen back, at least he would put some fight in the players

If it really is a toss-up between Duffy and Higham then we may as well hang fire no matter how painful the remainder of the season will be because either of those will make no difference and we will be back to square one.
