Who do we want at FB? Fleming? Lyons?
No idea what to expect in this game, both indifferent so far this season, hopefully a good game and a win for the Chemics!
FB - a long shot - Ince.
He is very good at taking high balls kicked to his wing, and at driving the ball in when necessary.
Good shout Sunny. I think Holroyd deserves another shot on the wing - hasn’t done much wrong (defence can be a bit iffy on left with Tyrer but not that it’s any different to rest of team).
Spedding and Fleming on right?
If Holroyd plays, wouldn’t it make a lot more sense to play him at fullback where he has a fair bit of experience and keep Ince on the wing?
Fleming at FB would be my preference.
Craven has played FB, albeit not for a long time.
Never have got Lyons at FB, not strong enough IMO, although Sheens liked to play him there.
Fleming is the safest option surely.
Wasn't the Sheens thing at a time that Lyons was acting as hooker on occasion? Sheens realised that he would be bullied in the pack and switched Jack instead, Lyons dropping back.
Iirc his comment was ' They won't get much change out of Jack!'
Holroyd did play FB before though. Whoever it is probably needs to orchestrate the defence so needs some experience there.
Yeah I think that was the idea behind it but not an idea that I liked or thought made any material difference.
I suppose Lyons is an attacking player who may get that extra yard of space at FB, but as a FB in a shaky team, would take a good defender over a good attacker any day.
On a good day it might give Holroyd a running chance occasionally - he certainly has pace!
In fairness, saw Holroyd have a good couple of games at Workington in the Play Offs playing Full Back.
But I think he is still finding his way at the higher level.
Craven needs to be in the halves, Lyons at fullback, for me once hasn’t played his best this season so would give holroyd a chance
