From the comments they are frightened that UK rugby league is on its way out leaving them without northern  competition!

They invited us into the Vegas games to help try to get the yanks to discover it! If they do seriously get into SL it leaves me worried about what will happen to non-SL clubs?

london have been going many years, starting at Fulham with a lot of ex Widnes players, great crowds to start with and the wheels fell off

The truth, however unpalatable, is that the rest of the country don't care about Rugby League.

However, we care to view the 'bigger picture' you can't force people to watch something that they are clearly not interested in. And no amount of fiddling around the edges will change that.

I look at it like this; if somebody built a Premiership football stadium outside of my house I still wouldn't go.  Why?  Because I don't like football and I am not interested in it, and no amount of jiggery pokery would suddenly make me think otherwise.

And it is the same with rugby league, however much we crave it to be loved like other nationwide and worldwide sports such as football, cricket or rugby union (sic).

Regarding London (and I am aware of their history); two years ago I actually felt sorry for them having been  completely shafted by the RFL and the IMG fiasco. After achieving promotion fairly and squarely by winning the Grand Final, they were then denied a fair crack by being told that they would be out of SL the following season no matter how well they did.

How I wished they'd gone on to win the SL Grand Final that season!

As you say, the game is in so much trouble now, and the sticking plaster approach goes far beyond the Ashes series.

I am actually embarrassed now, at the number of overseas players and coaches that dominate the premier competition in this country, and any 'neutral' fans must be thinking is this sport incapable of producing any decent players or coaches of their own?!! 

But there is a world of difference in player attitudes and lifestyles from the UK and Aus. Give lads a big enough pay packet and they will do whatever it takes!

My mate who now lives in Sydney, lived and worked in Paris about that time, and I well remember watching PSG v Western Reds with him at the Charlety in the World Club Comp, or whatever it was called.

I'd expect the Perth team to get an initial bounce with Big Mal being involved and some high-profile recruitment happening, once the novelty has worn off they might struggle. There is obvs no grassroots RL in WA, there is some Union. There is a precedent for this, the Western Force RU started OK then folded as player and fan interest waned. They're active again now but there isn't a massive Rugby vibe in Perth. That could change of course but there still isn't a massive vibe in Melbourne and they've been Champs countless times.

The Perth attraction is more TV games, with the addition of the Western time zone.
