Coleman heaps praise on in form Murray

Head Coach Allan Coleman praised his middles following their brave effort away at Featherstone Rovers

The Vikings came away victorious from Post Office Road following a hard earned 30-14 victory. It was the first time since 2011 Widnes have managed to beat Featherstone away from home.

The forward pack worked tirelessly in the first half preventing Featherstone’s powerful middles making metres down the slope. Experienced Front-Row pair Gadwin Springer and King Vuniyayawa struggled to get a foot hold in the game due to the Vikings steely defence.

One man in particular led from the front throughout and earned plaudits post match from his head coach.

In an interview after the game Allan Coleman praised Dan Murrays contribution to the game by saying “Dan is a great player, people don’t notice it but its his one percent efforts and his second efforts.”

“He probably fatigues the first out of everyone because of his high work rate, I asked him before the game I need you to be the best middle on the pitch and I think he was.”

“He wanted it the most, he carried it the best and he was head and shoulders the best middle on the field for me.”

Murray has been Mr consistent for Widnes since making the move from Halifax back in February 2024. He has managed 55 appearances so far for the club scoring 3 tries highlighting his durability alongside his quality.

Widnes have three games of the regular season remaining starting with Hunslet at home this Sunday. Murrays contribution will be key if Allan Colemans men can snatch a play-off position.
