What was once created as the New South Wales Rugby League in 1908 is now called the National Rugby League, with multiple clubs from Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, New Zealand, and the Australian Capital Territory. This rugby league competition has already had pre-season games since February, with the regular seasons coming in hot mid-March.
Moreover, games will run for 25 weeks, with teams eyeing a top spot in the scoring system. The top eight teams in the scoring system will have the ultimate chance to prove themselves as part of the final four in the final playoffs. As the games are still up and running and the league is still up for its fifth round, it’s time to get a look back at the previous games:
Round 1
Fans had the chance to watch eight games in round one which started on March 2, 2023. In CommBank Stadium, the Melbourne Storm dominated the Parramatta Eels with a score of 16-12, and on their home turf, nonetheless! The top players with the most tackles of the Melbourne Storm were number 9 hooker Harry Grant, lock forward Josh King, and second-row Eliesa Katoa.
March 3, 2023, saw two games: the Warriors won against the Newcastle Knights, scoring 20 to 12 in the Sky Stadium, and the Brisbane Broncos took the lead against the Penrith Panthers with a winning score of 13 to 12.
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, scoring 31 points, were no match for the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, who only had six points in the game last March 4, 2023. That Saturday also had two additional games and two for the last day (March 5, 2023). Here, the Dolphins ran their first game with a score of 28 against the Sydney Roosters with only 18. Lastly, the Gold Coast Titans won against the Wests Tigers, 22 to 10!
Overall, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles dominated the first spot in the leaderboard during the first round. They are followed by the Gold Coast Titans in second place and the Dolphins in third. By following the leaderboard, you can pick up how to choose the best rugby league odds this season. There’s nothing like knowing your winning chances than looking at the updated leaderboard and past games!
Round 2
You’ll find another batch of eight games during the second round. However, you’ll also notice that the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles still dominate the ladder with four points in tow. The Dolphins run one place higher, now in second with four points. The third spot goes to the St. George Illawarra Dragons with four points as well. After this round, the Gold Coast Titans (who placed second in the first round) moved down to ninth place.
This round held games from March 9 to March 12, 2023, and you’ll find the addition of new teams on the leaderboard. Moreover, this round had plenty of action, especially with the close game of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks against the Parramatta Eels, 30 to 26, on March 10.
Also, the Dolphins sealed their second win in a row against the Canberra Raiders 20-14. Lastly, the St. George Illawarra Dragons ran high up the leaderboard with a score of 32 in their first game of the season against the Gold Coast Titans, who only had 18.
Round 3
There are still action-packed games in the third round with eight games in total — spanning from March 16 to 19, 2023. The leaderboard will shock you at the end of this round as the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles have been removed from the top spot and are now in third place. The Brisbane Broncos replaced them with a stunning score of 6 points. Moreover, the Dolphins are still glued to second place with six points.
Although the Brisbane Broncos had already sealed their win in the first round, they still made a huge comeback last March 18 with the game against St. George Illawarra Dragons. During this game, the Broncos held their ground with a score of 40 to 18. The Dolphins also made their third consecutive win the day before (March 17) against the Newcastle Knights in New Lambton, scoring 36 to 20.
Round 4
The eight games for round 4 recently ended on March 26, 2023, and like all other rounds, round 4 also had noteworthy games of their own. In the most recent game, the Cronulla Sharks dominated the field and stunned the crowd with a winning score of 40 against the St. George Illawarra Dragons, who only had 8.
Moreover, players from the Cronulla Sharks, such as Nicholas Hynes and Jesse Ramien, also dominated with the most Supercoach points, awarded or deducted among players based on real-life performances.
Although the Cronulla Sharks didn’t place in the top five during this round, they did leap to sixth place. Moreover, this round still has the Brisbane Broncos at the top spot, the Sea Eagles coming in second, and the Dolphins coming in third.
